Google’s Chrome OS – For Notebooks Only?
Google, the search giant mentioned at Computex that its Chrome OS is intended for notebooks only. Well i guess, it won’t be for tablets then, at least for now.
Google’s Sundar Pichai, Google’s Senior Vice President for Chrome, recently confirmed at this years Computex, that they have no plans to release a tablet version at the moment. He said, “Chrome OS is a computer model designed with various form factors in mind, but we are entirely focused on the notebook form factor for now. We have no other plans at this time.”
This only means one thing, the rumors that we’ve heard over the past couple of months that we may see a version of Google’s Chrome OS landing on tablets some time this year, might not gonna’ happen. Probably next year or so, but of course we’re keeping our hopes up that it will happen this 2011.
It’s pretty obvious that Google are concentrating their Android OS on their tablets, and intend to develop Android for tablets further over the next few years. I guess they are thinking that Chrome OS for tablets, would have a negative effect on Android.
